(back to restoration projects)

Based on a 109 Landrover chassis the Shorland is fully armoured and "weighs in" at around 3.5 tonnes.
It is powered by the Landrover 2.6L straight six petrol engine.
I have owned mine for around 3 years now and really must get it roadworthy this year.. 2004 !!
It is unusual and has had the the following modifications carried out at some time.... luckily to a reasonable standard.......
Rear boat-tail area covered in steel with a rear tailgate
Two rear doors fitted
Windscreens are solid thick bullet proof glass and shutters have been removed
Side windows are again fixed glass.
A rear bench seat had been fitted with a heater just for rear passengers
I understand that the modifications were made to enable news teams to be carried in safety in war zones... possibly Bosnia.
When purchased the Shorland had been fitted with a circular roof hatch instead of the Ferret style turret, however the Turret was supplied and I have now restored and re-fitted it.
The braking system has been replaced.
The engine was smoking badly - "new" military reconditioned engine has been purchased and is awaiting fitment.
Here are a few photographs of progress so far.......
